RISE
My morning foundation, bringing together electrolytes, creatine and the ingredients I wanted in my daily performance regimen.
I created Prime2Performance because I still have things I want to do; and I want the strength, endurance and confidence to do them.
My first prime was built through service. As a United States Reconnaissance Marine, I served with the 3rd and 1st Reconnaissance Battalions, conducting airborne and scuba training as well as operational missions around the world. After an honorable discharge, I became an FBI Special Agent, working on violent crime and international terrorism.
My FBI career included an assignment to the Hostage Rescue Team Unit, where I served as a liaison to Marine Corps units for the invasion of Iraq. I later opened the FBI Legal Attaché office at the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, overseeing all FBI programs in the country.
After retiring from the FBI, I founded a risk management company that operated in 26 countries, including an extensive presence in Afghanistan. We handled war crime investigations, security services and injury and death investigations, alongside medical evacuations and case management for U.S. defense contractors. Our work helped injured people receive care and surviving families navigate life insurance settlements.
When I retired from that business in 2020, I wanted more time for family, hunting, and the life I had worked hard to build. But enjoying that freedom required something I couldn’t take for granted: my physical capability.
Over the years, I had endured a major, life-threatening surgery and significant orthopedic injuries involving my knee, bicep, pectoral muscle, shoulder and ulnar nerve. More recently, I completely tore both proximal hamstring tendons.
At one point, I couldn’t curl five pounds. At another, I could barely walk. Recovering after 60 was harder than recovering in my 40s. I was angry and frustrated. Then I became dedicated.
I started slowly, trained what I could and gradually rebuilt. Along the way, I spent years researching, training, nutrition, recovery and supplementation. That research exposed a problem: I couldn’t find the combination of ingredients, amounts and convenience I wanted in one practical system. Instead, I was buying multiple products, swallowing handfuls of capsules and measuring 15–20 individual ingredients.
I wanted thoughtfully formulated products without added sugar, organized around how I actually lived and trained. So I started creating them.
Prime2Performance took more than three years of formulations, adjustments and personal testing to develop. Each part began with a specific need in my own routine:
My morning foundation, bringing together electrolytes, creatine and the ingredients I wanted in my daily performance regimen.
Two pre-workout options built on a shared performance foundation—one stimulant-free and one with caffeine.
I wanted the flexibility to choose, rather than automatically reach for a stimulant before every workout.
Highly Branched Cyclic Dextrin, electrolytes and taurine for longer, demanding training sessions. When fatigue set in, I wanted an option built around carbohydrates and hydration.
My nighttime recovery formula, built with collagen, vitamin C and other ingredients I personally wanted to support how I recover, rest and prepare for the next day.
The breakthrough was making that system practical: four daily stick packs, with a choice of pre-workout. Open, mix with water, shake and drink. Something I could use at home, take to the gym or pack for travel.
I TOLD MY WIFE, “I’M GOING TO MANUFACTURE THIS. EVEN IF I MANUFACTURE IT ONLY FOR MYSELF, THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO USE. ”
She had watched me struggle, rebuild and regain my confidence. She understood why it mattered.
For me, performance goes far beyond the gym. I discovered sheep hunting at 57, and since then I’ve completed 15 sheep hunts, harvested 13 sheep and achieved my Grand Slam. Eleven months after tearing both hamstrings, I was hunting again at approximately 11,000 feet in Mongolia, taking a High Altai Argali and a Siberian ibex on the same day.
That is what performance means to me: having the strength and endurance to pursue the life I choose. I built Prime2Performance to make the supplementation side of that pursuit simpler, more consistent and easier to carry into everyday life.
Your next prime deserves something to look forward to, and the work it takes to get there.
